The trial about the encampment of homeless people in Phoenix's "Zone" will proceed on Monday. Superior Court Judge DENIES a last minute effort by the plaintiffs in the federal case to intervene and delay.
Judge Scott Blaney was not pleased with yesterday's Motion to Intervene, filed by Funds for Empowerment/ACLU, involved in the similar suit in U.S. District Court. Blaney ticked off the various points at which they could have - and, should have - tried to intervene in the state court proceeding. On top of that, Blaney noted that they did not follow the rules to successfully intervene by not attaching a proposed pleading which would allow the judge to determine whether their involvement was warranted (or, duplicative).
